Shelli Varela is a “possibility hacker,” public speaker, and Canada’s first female firefighter in one of the largest cities in the country. She went from being a young 20-something struggling artist working in makeup, film, and special effects to finding her true passion, her true calling, as a firefighter, working her way up to Fire Captain.
Shelli joins me today to share her “lightbulb moment” – the moment she decided to follow her passion and dream of becoming a firefighter. She shares how she used anger and her hyperactive imagination to help her accomplish her goals and her strategies for breaking down her big, audacious goals into bite-size pieces. She also explains the importance of giving yourself permission to explore your interests and passions and why it’s important to lead with possibility.
“The universe really does conspire to help you achieve your dreams, goals, and purpose if you allow it to do so.” – Shelli Varela
